World War 2

World War 2 was one of the biggest events in history. It started in 1939 and ended in 1945. Countries from all over the world took part. Two big groups fought against each other. They were called the Allies and the Axis. The war changed many countries and the lives of millions of people. After the war, leaders worked hard to build peace so that something like it would not happen again.

Who Fought in the War

The two sides were called the Allies and the Axis. The Allies included the United States, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, France, China, and many more. The Axis was led by Germany, Italy, and Japan. Soldiers fought on land, in the air, and at sea. People back home helped too. They grew food, built planes, and worked in factories to support the troops.

How the War Ended

The war lasted about six years. In 1945, Germany gave up first in May. Then Japan gave up in September. People all over the world celebrated the end of the war. After the war, a group called the United Nations was formed. Its job is to help countries talk to each other and keep the peace.
