Glue

Glue is something sticky that sticks two things together. It can be made from plants, animals, or chemicals. People have used glue for thousands of years. Today, there are many kinds of glue for different jobs.

Glue in History

The first glues were made from tree sap and animal bones long ago. Ancient Egyptians used glue to build furniture over 4,000 years ago. They boiled animal hides to make a sticky liquid. This glue dried hard and held wood together well. Some of that furniture still exists today.

Kinds of Glue

Today, you can find many kinds of glue. White school glue is safe for kids and washes off easily. Super glue is very strong and dries fast. Hot glue comes out of a glue gun when it is heated. Each kind works best for certain things, like paper, wood, or plastic.
