The Popsicle

A Popsicle is a frozen treat on a stick. It is made from fruit juice, sugar, and water. Popsicles come in many yummy flavors and bright colors.

How the Popsicle Was Invented

The Popsicle was invented by accident in 1905 by an 11-year-old boy named Frank Epperson. He left a cup of soda with a stirring stick outside on a cold night. The next morning, the drink had frozen around the stick.

Frank pulled the frozen treat out of the cup and licked it. It tasted great! Years later, he started selling his frozen treats. He first called them Epsicles, but his kids called them Pop's 'sicles, and the name Popsicle stuck.

Popsicles Today

Today, billions of Popsicles are eaten every year. They come in hundreds of flavors. Cherry and grape are some of the most popular ones.

You can even make your own Popsicles at home. Just pour juice into a mold, add a stick, and put it in the freezer. In a few hours, you will have a tasty frozen treat.
