The Television

The television, or TV, is one of the most famous inventions ever made. It lets you watch shows, movies, cartoons, sports, and news right in your own home. The TV takes signals from the air or a cable and turns them into pictures and sound. People all over the world use it every day for fun and to learn new things.

Who Invented the TV?

A Scottish man named John Logie Baird showed the first working TV in 1926. An American boy named Philo Farnsworth also made a TV when he was just a teenager. Many smart people helped make the TV better over time. Early TVs only showed black and white pictures. Later, color TVs were made so shows looked even more fun.

How a TV Works

A TV gets signals from an antenna, cable, or the internet. These signals carry tiny bits of information. The TV turns them into the pictures and sounds you see and hear. Old TVs were big and heavy with fat backs. New TVs are flat and thin. Some are as big as a wall, and some are smart and can play games.
