The Wheel

The wheel is one of the oldest and most important inventions ever made. It is a simple round shape, but it changed the world. Before the wheel, people had to carry heavy things on their backs or drag them on the ground. The wheel made it much easier to move stuff from place to place. Today, wheels are everywhere. We see them on cars, bikes, toys, and even inside machines.

How the Wheel Began

The first wheels were made a very long time ago, about 5,500 years ago. People in a place called Mesopotamia made them. The first wheels were not used for travel. They were used to shape clay into pots. Later, people put wheels on carts so animals could pull heavy loads. This was a huge step for people everywhere.

Wheels Today

Wheels are used in so many things now. Cars, buses, and trains all roll on wheels. Bikes and skateboards use them too. Wheels also help machines work. Clocks, fans, and even some toys have small wheels inside. Without the wheel, life would be very hard and slow.
