Listening is more than just hearing sounds. Good listening means paying attention, understanding the message, and remembering what was said. It is one of the most important communication skills you can have. Good listeners learn more, make better friends, and avoid misunderstandings.
Active Listening
Active listening means really focusing on the speaker. Look at the person who is talking. Do not interrupt or think about what you want to say next. Nod or give other signals that show you are paying attention. After they finish, ask questions or repeat back what you heard to make sure you understood.
