Verbs

Verbs are action words. They tell us what someone or something is doing. 'Run,' 'jump,' and 'eat' are all verbs. Every sentence needs a verb to work.

Kinds of Verbs

Action verbs show movement, like 'dance' or 'swim.' Being verbs, like 'is' and 'are,' show how something exists. Helping verbs work with other verbs to tell more about them. All of these make our sentences complete.

Verb Tenses

Verbs change to show when something happens. 'Walk' is present tense, for now. 'Walked' is past tense, for before. 'Will walk' is future tense, for later. These changes help us tell time in our stories.
