Athena was one of the most popular Greek goddesses. She was the goddess of wisdom, courage, and crafts. The city of Athens was named after her. She was known for being smart and fair.

Athena had a very strange birth story. She was born from the head of her father, Zeus! She came out fully grown and wearing armor. The other gods were amazed when they saw her appear.

Athena's Gifts to Humans

Athena gave the olive tree to the people of Athens. That is why they named their city after her. She also taught people how to weave cloth and build ships. Her owl symbol stood for wisdom and knowledge.
