Isis and Osiris were two of the most beloved gods in ancient Egypt. Osiris was the god of the afterlife, and Isis was the goddess of magic. Their story of love and loyalty was the most popular myth in Egypt. It taught people about hope and new beginnings.
A Terrible Betrayal
Osiris was a good king who taught the Egyptians farming and laws. His jealous brother Set tricked him and trapped him in a box. Set threw the box into the Nile River. Isis searched everywhere for her husband and finally found him.
The Power of Isis
Isis used her powerful magic to bring Osiris back to life. But Set found Osiris again and cut him into pieces. Isis gathered all the pieces and put them back together. Osiris became the ruler of the afterlife. Their son Horus later defeated Set and became king of Egypt.
