Boa Constrictors
Boa Constrictors
Boa constrictors are big, heavy snakes that live in Central and South America. They have beautiful patterns on their skin. Boas can live in rainforests, deserts, and even in trees. They are strong hunters that catch animals by squeezing them.
Squeeze Hunters
Like pythons, boa constrictors are not venomous. They wrap their bodies around their food and squeeze tight. This is how they got the name constrictor. They eat birds, lizards, and small mammals.
Life in the Trees
Young boa constrictors often live up in trees. They use their strong tails to hold on to branches. As they get bigger, they spend more time on the ground. Boas are active mostly at night.
Fun Facts
- Boa constrictors can grow up to 13 feet long.
