Gazelles
Gazelles
Gazelles are graceful antelopes known for their speed and beauty. They live on grasslands and deserts in Africa and Asia. Gazelles have long, curved horns and large, dark eyes. They are some of the fastest animals on land.
Speed and Agility
Gazelles can run up to 60 miles per hour in short bursts. They also have great stamina and can run for long distances. When scared, gazelles leap high into the air in a move called stotting. This may signal to predators that the gazelle is too fast to catch.
Desert Survivors
Some gazelles live in very dry deserts with little water. They get most of their water from the plants they eat. Gazelles can survive without drinking water for long periods. Their light-colored fur reflects sunlight and helps them stay cool.
