Grizzly Bears
Grizzly Bears
Grizzly bears are a type of brown bear that lives in North America. They are big and strong, with thick fur and long claws. Grizzlies get their name from the silver tips on their fur, which make them look grizzled. They can be found in forests, mountains, and meadows.
What They Eat
Grizzly bears eat many kinds of food. They love berries, nuts, and plants. They also catch fish in rivers, especially salmon. Sometimes they eat small animals and insects. Before winter, grizzlies eat a lot to get ready for their long sleep.
Winter Sleep
In the winter, grizzly bears go into a deep sleep called hibernation. They dig dens in the ground or find caves to stay warm. Mother bears often have their cubs during this time. When spring comes, the bears wake up hungry and come out to find food.
