Mandrills

Mandrills are big monkeys that live in the rainforests of Africa. They are famous for their bright colors. Male mandrills have red and blue stripes on their faces. They are the largest monkeys in the world.

Bright Colors

The male mandrill has some of the brightest colors of any animal. His face has a red stripe in the middle and blue stripes on the sides. These bright colors help him find a mate. The brighter the colors, the stronger the male looks.

Living Together

Mandrills live in groups called hordes. A horde can have hundreds of mandrills in it. They walk through the forest looking for food like fruit, seeds, and bugs. Mandrills have cheek pouches where they can store food to eat later.
