Moose
Moose are the biggest animals in the deer family. They have long legs, a humped back, and a long face. Male moose grow huge flat antlers each year. Moose live in cold forests in places like Canada, Alaska, and northern Europe.
Giant Antlers
Male moose, called bulls, grow huge antlers every spring. The antlers can be over 6 feet wide from tip to tip. Moose use their antlers to fight other males and to show off. In the winter, they drop their antlers and grow new ones next year.
Swimming and Eating
Moose are great swimmers. They can swim for miles and even dive underwater to find food. They eat plants that grow in ponds and lakes. On land, they munch on leaves, twigs, and bark. A moose can eat more than 70 pounds of food in one day.
