Sheep
Sheep
Sheep are gentle farm animals covered in thick, curly wool. They are raised all over the world for their wool, milk, and meat. Sheep come in many colors like white, black, and brown. They live in groups called flocks and feel safest when they are together.
Wool Coats
Sheep grow a warm coat of wool that keeps them warm in winter. Once a year, farmers shear the wool off. This does not hurt the sheep, and the wool grows back. The wool is then cleaned and spun into yarn to make sweaters, blankets, and socks.
Flock Life
Sheep like to stay close together in flocks. When one sheep moves, the others follow. This helps keep them safe from animals that might hunt them. Baby sheep are called lambs. They can walk soon after they are born and stay close to their mothers.
