Skunks

Skunks are small mammals with black fur and white stripes. They are best known for the awful smell they spray when scared. Skunks live in forests, fields, and even near houses. They come out mostly at night.

Smelly Defense

When a skunk feels in danger, it sprays a stinky liquid from under its tail. The smell is so strong it can be smelled a mile away. Most animals learn to leave skunks alone. The spray can even make eyes sting.

Diet and Home

Skunks eat many things, like insects, fruit, and small animals. This makes them omnivores. They live in dens under logs, rocks, or porches. Skunks usually live alone except when raising their babies.
