Sun Bears
Sun Bears
Sun bears are the smallest bears in the world. They live in the rainforests of Southeast Asia. Sun bears are named for the golden or cream patch on their chest that looks like a rising sun. They have short black fur and long claws for climbing.
Tree Life
Sun bears spend a lot of time in trees. They have strong claws that help them climb high. They sleep and rest on tree branches during the day. Sun bears are great at finding food in trees, like fruit and honey.
Long Tongues
Sun bears have very long tongues. They use them to pull honey and insects out of holes in trees. Their tongues can be nearly 10 inches long. Because they love honey, sun bears are sometimes called honey bears. They also eat bugs, fruit, and small animals.
