Amelia Bloomer was an American women's rights activist. She was born in Homer, New York, in 1818. She published a newspaper about women's rights. She became famous for promoting comfortable pants for women called bloomers.

Bloomer grew up in New York State. She married a lawyer who supported women's rights. She became interested in the temperance and women's rights movements. She started a newspaper called The Lily.
