Andy Warhol was an American artist and filmmaker. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1928. He was a leader of the Pop Art movement. He turned everyday objects like soup cans and celebrities into famous works of art.
Early Life
Warhol was often sick as a child and spent time at home drawing and collecting pictures of movie stars. He studied commercial art in college. He moved to New York City and became a successful magazine illustrator.
Big Achievements
Warhol became famous for his silk-screen prints of Campbell's soup cans and Marilyn Monroe. He opened a studio called The Factory where artists gathered. He made movies, started a magazine, and managed a rock band. His work changed what people think of as art.
