Ayanna Howard is an American roboticist and computer scientist. She was born in 1972. She builds smart robots that can work in dangerous environments. She was inspired by a TV show called The Bionic Woman to become a scientist.
Early Life
Howard grew up watching The Bionic Woman on TV and dreamed of building robots. She studied engineering at Brown University. She then earned a PhD from the University of Southern California. She joined NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she worked on Mars rover technology.
Robotics and AI
Howard built robots that can navigate dangerous terrain like ice and snow. She created robots that help children with disabilities practice physical therapy exercises. She became the Dean of Engineering at Ohio State University. She is passionate about making sure artificial intelligence is fair and works for everyone.
