Dav Pilkey

Dav Pilkey is an American author and illustrator. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1966. He is best known for the Captain Underpants and Dog Man book series. His funny books have helped millions of kids discover a love of reading.

Early Life

Pilkey was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia as a child. He often got in trouble at school for being silly. His teachers would send him to the hallway, where he would draw comics. He created Captain Underpants when he was in second grade.

Famous Books

The Captain Underpants series follows two boys who accidentally turn their principal into a superhero. The Dog Man series is about a half-dog, half-police-officer hero. Pilkey's books use humor and comic-style art to engage young readers. His books have sold over 100 million copies.
