Eliud Kipchoge

Eliud Kipchoge is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He was born in Kapsisiywa, Kenya, in 1984. He holds the world record in the marathon. He is the first person to run a marathon in under two hours in a special event.

Early Life

Kipchoge grew up in a farming family in Kenya. He ran to school every day, which helped build his talent. He was mentored by Patrick Sang, a former Olympic medalist. He first gained fame as a teenager by winning the world championship in the 5,000 meters.

Big Achievements

Kipchoge has won two Olympic gold medals in the marathon. He set the official world record of 2:01:09 in 2022. In a special event in 2019, he became the first person to run a marathon in under two hours at 1:59:40. He has won more than 15 major marathons.
