Franklin D. Roosevelt, often called FDR, was the 32nd President of the United States. He was born in Hyde Park, New York, in 1882. He served as president for 12 years. He led America through the Great Depression and most of World War II.
Early Life
Roosevelt grew up in a wealthy family. He studied at Harvard and Columbia Law School. He entered politics and became governor of New York. At age 39, he got polio and could no longer walk without help, but he did not let that stop him.
Big Achievements
FDR created the New Deal, which helped millions of Americans during the Great Depression. He started programs like Social Security that still help people today. He led the country through most of World War II. He is the only president to serve four terms.
