Isabel Allende

Isabel Allende was born in 1942 in Peru but grew up in Chile. She is one of the most read writers in the Spanish language. Allende writes books that mix real life with magic. Her stories have families, ghosts, and adventures. Her books have been read all over the world.

Her Books

Allende's first famous book is The House of the Spirits. It tells a long story about one family over many years. She also wrote adventure books for kids about a girl named Alexander in the Amazon. Her books use a style called magical realism. This means strange and magical things happen in normal life.

Her Life

Allende had to leave Chile when she was young because of problems in her country. She moved to Venezuela and later to the United States. She lives in California now. She started writing her first book as a letter to her grandfather. She has written more than 25 books.
