Jackson Pollock

Jackson Pollock was born in Wyoming in 1912. He grew up to be a painter in New York. He made a new kind of art. Instead of using a brush in the normal way, he splashed and dripped paint. His wild style made him very famous.

Drip Painting

Pollock put huge canvases on the floor. He walked around them and dripped paint from sticks and cans. He made swirls, splatters, and lines. This kind of art is called abstract expressionism. Some people loved it, and some did not understand it.

A New Kind of Art

Pollock's paintings do not show real things like people or trees. They show colors, shapes, and feelings. His most famous works are now in big museums. Some of his paintings have sold for over 100 million dollars. He showed the world a new way to think about art.
