Johannes Gutenberg

Johannes Gutenberg was a German inventor. He was born in Mainz, Germany, around 1400. He invented the movable type printing press. This invention made it possible to print books quickly and cheaply, changing the world forever.

Early Life

Not much is known about Gutenberg's early life. He came from a wealthy family and learned metalworking. He spent years secretly developing his printing press. He borrowed money to fund his invention.

Big Achievements

Around 1440, Gutenberg developed a printing press with movable metal letters. He printed the Gutenberg Bible around 1455, one of the first major books printed in Europe. His invention made books cheaper and more available. It helped spread knowledge, education, and new ideas across the world.
