Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps is an American swimmer. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1985. He won 23 Olympic gold medals, more than any other athlete in history. He is the most successful Olympian of all time.

Early Life

Phelps started swimming at age seven. He was diagnosed with ADHD, and swimming helped him focus his energy. He qualified for the Olympics at age 15. He won his first gold medal at age 19.

Phelps competed in five Olympic Games. He won 23 gold medals, 3 silver, and 2 bronze. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, he won 8 gold medals in one Games. He holds the record for most Olympic medals of any athlete in history.
