Queen Nefertiti

Nefertiti was an ancient Egyptian queen. She lived around 1370 to 1330 BC. She was the wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten. She is famous for her painted limestone bust, which is one of the most recognized works of art from the ancient world.

Queen of Egypt

Nefertiti married Pharaoh Akhenaten and became one of the most powerful women in Egypt. Together, they changed Egypt's religion to worship only one god, the sun god Aten. She may have even ruled Egypt on her own for a time. Her name means 'the beautiful one has come.'

The Famous Bust

In 1912, a German archaeologist discovered a painted bust of Nefertiti in Egypt. The bust shows her wearing her iconic tall blue crown. It is now displayed in a museum in Berlin, Germany. The bust made Nefertiti one of the most famous figures of the ancient world.
