Steven Spielberg was born in Ohio in 1946. He is one of the most famous movie directors in the world. He has made movies that millions of kids and adults love. He directed E.T., Jaws, Jurassic Park, and the Indiana Jones films.
A Young Filmmaker
Steven started making movies with his dad's camera when he was only 12. He filmed his train set crashing and showed the movies to his friends. As a teenager, he made his first longer movie called Firelight. A movie studio hired him when he was just 22 years old.
Big Hits
Spielberg's movie Jaws was one of the first big summer blockbusters. He then made E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, about a boy and an alien. His movie Jurassic Park brought dinosaurs back to life with special effects. He has also made serious movies like Schindler's List about the Holocaust.
