Tecumseh
Tecumseh was a Shawnee warrior and chief. He was born around 1768 in what is now Ohio. He tried to create a large alliance of Native American tribes to resist American expansion. He is remembered as one of the greatest Native American leaders.
Early Life
Tecumseh grew up during a time when Native Americans were losing their lands. His father was killed in battle when Tecumseh was young. He became a skilled warrior and hunter. He traveled widely to convince other tribes to unite.
Big Achievements
Tecumseh and his brother, known as the Prophet, built a large Native American alliance. He traveled from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico to recruit tribes. He fought alongside the British in the War of 1812. He died in the Battle of the Thames in 1813.
