There are over 70 recognized cat breeds in the world. Each breed has its own special look and personality. Some cats have long, fluffy fur, while others have short or even no fur at all. Some breeds are chatty and social, while others are quiet and calm.
Popular Cat Breeds
The Persian cat has a flat face and long, luxurious fur. Siamese cats are talkative and love to meow at their owners. Maine Coons are one of the biggest cat breeds and can weigh over 20 pounds. The Ragdoll cat goes limp and floppy when you pick it up, which is how it got its name.
Special Cat Breeds
Some cat breeds are really unusual. The Sphynx cat has almost no fur and feels like warm suede. The Scottish Fold has ears that fold forward, giving it an owl-like look. The Bengal cat has spots that make it look like a little leopard. The Munchkin cat has very short legs.
