Ferrets
Ferrets
Ferrets are fun-loving, energetic pets that are full of personality. They are related to weasels, otters, and badgers. Ferrets have been kept as pets for over 2,500 years. They are very social animals that love to play with people and other ferrets.
Playful Personalities
Ferrets are some of the most playful pets you can have. They do a happy dance called the war dance, where they hop sideways and bounce around. Ferrets love to steal small objects and hide them. They also enjoy playing chase and wrestling with each other.
Ferret Care
Ferrets need a large cage with hammocks and tunnels to play in. They should be let out to explore for several hours each day. Ferrets eat special ferret food that is high in protein. Their homes need to be ferret-proofed because they can squeeze through very small spaces.
Fun Facts
- Ferrets sleep about 18 hours a day, often in a deep sleep that is hard to wake from.
- A group of ferrets is called a business.
- Ferrets can flatten their bodies to squeeze through tiny openings.
