Guinea Pigs
Guinea pigs are gentle, friendly pets that love being around people. Despite their name, they are not pigs and they do not come from Guinea. They originally come from South America. Guinea pigs are social animals, so they are happiest when they have a buddy.
Guinea Pig Sounds
Guinea pigs make many different sounds. They squeak with excitement when they hear a food bag rustle. A happy guinea pig might purr like a cat. They also make a sound called popcorning, where they jump and twist in the air when they are really happy.
Caring for Guinea Pigs
Guinea pigs need a roomy cage with fresh hay, water, and vegetables. They love to eat hay, leafy greens, and special guinea pig pellets. Unlike most animals, guinea pigs cannot make their own vitamin C. They need to get it from fresh fruits and veggies every day.
