Colors

Colors are what we see when light bounces off things. Red, blue, and yellow are some colors. A rainbow shows many colors at once. Our eyes and brain work together to see colors. Without light, we could not see any color at all.

Where Colors Come From

White light from the sun is made of many colors. When light hits an object, the object soaks up some colors and bounces others back. A red apple bounces red light to your eyes. A green leaf bounces green light. That is why they look the colors they do.

You can mix colors to make new ones. Red and yellow paint make orange. Blue and yellow make green. Red and blue make purple. Artists mix colors to paint beautiful pictures. Screens mix red, green, and blue light to show every color.
