Optical Illusions
Optical Illusions
Optical illusions are fun tricks that fool your eyes. When you look at them, your brain gets confused about what it sees. Lines may look bent when they are really straight. Colors may seem to change even when they do not.
How They Trick Us
Your eyes send pictures to your brain all day long. The brain tries to make sense of what it sees very fast. Sometimes it guesses wrong because of shapes, colors, or shadows. That is when you see an illusion. Your brain is trying to fill in missing information.
Famous Illusions
One famous illusion shows two lines that look different, but they are the same length. Another shows a picture that can look like a duck or a rabbit. Some illusions make still pictures seem to move. Artists like M.C. Escher made drawings with stairs that go up forever. These tricks show how amazing our brains are.
