Venus
Venus
Venus is a rocky planet that spins around the Sun. It is about the same size as Earth. People sometimes call Venus Earth's twin. But Venus is very different from our home. It is covered in thick clouds and is super hot.
A Very Hot World
Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system. It is even hotter than Mercury, which is closer to the Sun. Thick clouds trap heat near the ground. The air on Venus is full of a gas called carbon dioxide. This makes Venus a giant oven. It is so hot that metal would melt there.
Clouds and Sky
Venus is covered in thick yellow clouds. These clouds are made of acid, not water. The clouds hide the ground from view. Venus looks very bright in our night sky. You can often see it near sunrise or sunset. Many people call it the morning star or the evening star.
