Boxing

Boxing is a fighting sport that is very old. Two fighters wear big padded gloves and face each other in a square area called a ring. They try to score points by landing punches. Boxing takes speed, strength, and smart thinking.

The Rules

Boxers fight in short rounds that last a few minutes each. A referee watches closely to keep the match fair. Fighters can only punch above the waist and cannot hit the back of the head. A judge decides who wins if the match goes to the end.

Training Hard

Boxers train very hard to get strong and fast. They run, jump rope, and punch heavy bags. They also practice moving their feet quickly to avoid getting hit. Good boxers must think fast and stay calm.
