Judo
Judo
Judo is a sport that started in Japan more than 100 years ago. The name judo means 'the gentle way.' Instead of punching or kicking, players try to throw each other to the ground. It uses smart moves to beat bigger opponents.
How to Play
Judo players wear a thick uniform called a judogi. They hold onto each other and try to trip or throw the other person. Players can also pin each other to the mat to win points. Matches are fast and full of action.
Values of Judo
Judo is about more than winning matches. Students learn to be polite and to help their classmates. They bow before and after every match. Judo also teaches how to fall safely without getting hurt.
