Jump Rope
Jump rope is a fun and healthy activity. You swing a rope over your head and under your feet while jumping. Kids have been jumping rope for hundreds of years.
How to Jump Rope
To jump rope, you hold one end in each hand. You swing the rope over your head and jump when it reaches your feet. You can jump with both feet or one foot at a time. The key is finding a good rhythm.
Some kids jump alone with a short rope. Others play with a long rope that two friends turn while others jump in the middle. This is called Double Dutch when two ropes are used at once.
Jump Rope Games
There are many fun jump rope games. In Double Dutch, two ropes spin in opposite directions and a jumper hops between them. Kids also sing songs while jumping. Some songs tell you when to jump faster or do tricks.
Jump rope is also a serious sport. Competitive jumpers do amazing tricks like flips and spins. Jump rope is great exercise because it works your whole body.
