Rugby

Rugby is a team sport played with an oval ball. Two teams play against each other. Players can run with the ball, kick it, or pass it to their teammates. The goal is to score more points than the other team. Rugby is played all over the world. It is loved by many fans.

How the Game Is Played

Each team tries to get the ball over the other team's line. When a player places the ball down over the line, it is called a try. A try earns points. Players can also kick the ball through tall posts to score more points. Players pass the ball only backward, not forward. The game is played on a big grass field.

Where Rugby Came From

Rugby started in England a long time ago. The story says a boy named William Webb Ellis picked up a soccer ball and ran with it. This happened at a school called Rugby. That is how the sport got its name. Today, teams from many countries play rugby. They even have a big event called the Rugby World Cup.
