Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a martial art that comes from Korea. The name means 'the way of the foot and fist.' It is known for strong, high kicks. Taekwondo helps people get fit and learn how to defend themselves.

Kicks and Moves

Taekwondo has many kinds of kicks, including spinning and jumping ones. Students also use punches and blocks. They practice sets of moves called poomsae. Students wear a white uniform and a colored belt.

In the Olympics

Taekwondo is an Olympic sport. Players fight inside a ring wearing special padding for safety. They score points by kicking or punching the other player. The winner is the one with the most points at the end.
