Wakeboarding
Wakeboarding
Wakeboarding is an exciting water sport. The rider stands on a short, wide board. A boat pulls them across the water with a rope. Riders can do cool tricks by jumping over the waves made by the boat.
The Board and Gear
A wakeboard is shorter than a surfboard. The rider's feet are strapped into bindings on the board. They hold onto a handle tied to the boat. Riders wear life jackets for safety. Most wakeboarders also wear wetsuits to stay warm.
Doing Tricks
The waves behind the boat are called the wake. Riders use the wake like a ramp to jump into the air. They can spin, flip, and grab the board while flying. Some parks even have ramps and rails in the water. Wakeboarding is a lot like snowboarding but on water.
Fun Facts
- Wakeboarding was invented in the 1980s.
