Typing Skills
Typing is an important skill for using computers. Good typists can type quickly without looking at the keyboard. This is called touch typing. Learning to type well helps you get work done faster.
Learning to Type
The home row is where your fingers rest on the keyboard. Your left hand covers the A, S, D, and F keys. Your right hand covers the J, K, L, and semicolon keys. Both thumbs rest on the spacebar. From the home row, your fingers reach up and down to other keys.
Getting Faster
Practice is the best way to type faster. Fun typing games can help you improve your speed. Try not to look at the keyboard while you type. Start slowly and focus on accuracy first. Speed will come with time and practice.
Fun Facts
- The average person types about 40 words per minute.
