Rickshaws
Rickshaws
Rickshaws are small passenger vehicles found mostly in Asia. They were originally pulled by a person running on foot. Today, most rickshaws are pedal-powered or have small motors. Rickshaws are a fun and easy way to get around in many cities.
Types of Rickshaws
Pulled rickshaws have a person running while pulling the cart. Cycle rickshaws are like big tricycles with a passenger seat in back. Auto rickshaws, called tuk-tuks, have small engines and are very popular in India and Thailand. All types are great for short trips through crowded streets.
Rickshaws Today
In many Asian cities, rickshaws are still a common sight. Tuk-tuks zip through traffic in Bangkok and Mumbai. In New York City and London, pedicabs give tourists fun rides through the streets. Some rickshaws are now electric, making them quieter and easier to drive.
