Scooters and Mopeds

Scooters and mopeds are smaller than motorcycles. They are easy to ride and great for short trips around town. In many countries, scooters are one of the most popular ways to get around. They use very little fuel and can zip through busy traffic.

Scooters vs. Mopeds

Scooters have a step-through frame so you can sit with your feet flat. They usually have small wheels and an automatic transmission. Mopeds are even smaller and have pedals like a bicycle. Mopeds go slower than scooters, usually under 30 miles per hour.

In Italy, the Vespa scooter has been a beloved icon since 1946. In Vietnam and India, millions of people ride scooters every day. Electric scooters and kick scooters are also becoming popular in cities everywhere. Many cities now have scooter-sharing programs where you can rent one with an app.
