The History of Ships

People have been building boats for thousands of years. Early boats were simple rafts made of logs. Over time, people learned to build bigger and stronger ships. Ships helped explorers discover new lands and trade goods around the world.

Early Ships

Ancient Egyptians built some of the first large boats using reeds and wood. The Vikings built long, narrow ships that could cross the Atlantic Ocean. Sailing ships used wind to travel, so sailors had to know a lot about weather and ocean currents.

Ships Today

Modern ships are huge and made of steel. Cargo ships carry goods like toys, food, and electronics across oceans. Cruise ships are like floating cities with pools and restaurants. Some ships are powered by engines, while others still use sails for fun.
