Signing Time

Signing Time is a show that teaches kids how to talk with their hands. It uses American Sign Language, also called ASL. The show has catchy songs that help kids remember signs. Children of all abilities can learn and sing along together.

How the Show Began

A mom named Rachel Coleman started Signing Time in 2002. Her daughter Leah was born deaf, so Rachel wanted to share sign language. She hoped other kids would learn to sign too. The show became very popular on public television. Families everywhere started learning signs at home.

What Kids Learn

Each episode teaches new signs around a topic. Kids might learn signs for animals, food, or feelings. The show uses singing, puppets, and cartoons to make learning fun. Signing helps babies talk before they can speak with words. It also helps hearing and deaf kids become friends.
