WordGirl

WordGirl is an animated TV show that aired on PBS Kids from 2007 to 2015. It follows Becky Botsford, a girl who is secretly the superhero WordGirl. She came to Earth from the planet Lexicon and has an incredible vocabulary. She fights villains using her word power and super strength.

WordGirl's Secret Identity

Becky Botsford seems like a normal girl but she is actually WordGirl. Her sidekick is Captain Huggy Face, a monkey from her home planet. Together they fight villains like the Butcher, Lady Redundant Woman, and Dr. Two-Brains. Each villain's name is a play on words.

Building Vocabulary

Each episode introduces new vocabulary words and their definitions. WordGirl uses these words to outsmart villains. The show encourages kids to use big words in everyday life. A narrator helps explain the meanings of new words as they come up in the story.
