Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 25, 2026
The short version: Kidipedia has optional grown-up accounts, but children never sign in. There are no ads, cross-site advertising trackers, or chat features. A parent can save a child's first name, animal avatar, grade, interests and learning preferences. Signed-in family progress is stored privately so it can follow the family's devices; signed-out progress stays on the device.
What we don't collect
- No child accounts. Kidipedia never asks a child for an email address, birthday, or sign-in.
- No advertising. There are no ads of any kind, no advertising SDKs or networks, and we never sell or share data with advertisers.
- No advertising profiles. We do not use fingerprinting or cross-site advertising identifiers, and nothing is used to build a profile of a child.
- No messaging or social features. Children cannot communicate with anyone through Kidipedia, and their learning work is not posted publicly.
Product analytics
To see which pages, lessons and games are used and where they break, Kidipedia uses PostHog product analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics. These count page views and in-app events (for example that a lesson was started or a game level was finished). This information is never used for advertising, never sold, and never linked to a child's name or profile. Grown-ups who sign in may be associated with their own account's usage so we can support them.
Optional grown-up accounts and kid profiles
A grown-up may create an account using their email address. Signed-in parents can add kid profiles containing a first name, an animal avatar, school grade, up to three subject interests, reading-support preference, learning goal, and preferred weekly schedule. We do not ask for a child's birthday, school, email address, or location. These profile details are stored with the grown-up's account by our authentication provider, Clerk, so the same defaults are available on another signed-in device. See Clerk's privacy policy for details.
Learning progress and device storage
Kidipedia remembers quiz scores, game and lesson progress, recently read articles, the weekly plan, the active kid profile, and small settings in the browser or app's local storage. When a grown-up is signed in and has selected a kid profile, that profile's learning progress is also saved to a private Cloudflare D1 record tied to the grown-up's account and kid-profile identifier. This lets progress merge across signed-in devices. Signed-out activity is not uploaded. Removing a kid profile deletes its private server record; clearing the site's data removes the local copy.
Hosting and technical logs
Kidipedia is served by Cloudflare, our hosting provider. Like virtually all web hosting, Cloudflare's infrastructure processes standard technical information (such as IP addresses) transiently to deliver pages, balance load, and prevent abuse. We do not use this information to identify or profile visitors. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
External links and the grown-ups gate
A few features (such as the source links on news stories) lead outside Kidipedia. These links are always placed behind a "grown-ups only" check — a simple multiplication question — so children don't leave the app accidentally. External sites have their own privacy practices that we don't control.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
Kidipedia is designed for children. Child-facing pages do not ask children to create accounts or submit contact details. Optional accounts and kid profiles are created and managed in the grown-ups area.
Changes to this policy
If Kidipedia's privacy practices ever change — for example, if we add an optional subscription for grown-ups — we will update this page and the "last updated" date above before those changes take effect. The commitment that will not change: no ads, and no selling or sharing of personal information.
